MHELM - Moldova Higher Education Leadership and Management Program

Training program for leadership and management in higher education

Erasmus + Project number 609656-EPP-1-2019-1-MD-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP

Project goals:

The transnational project aims to develop and introduce an innovative training programme for leaders and managers in higher education at Moldovan universities. The programme should be designed based on the modernization of the university system in the Republic of Moldova since 2013 and according to the recommendations for the Europe-wide Bologna reform. The programme intends to support leaders and managers at universities and similar institutions (rectors, deans, administrative directors, academic staff with managerial responsibility), in perfecting their professional skills. The participants are responsible for sustainably developing the higher education sector following the needs of the domestic labor market, of the international research landscape and of the guidelines of the European Union for lifelong learning.

What will the project do?

After the Moldovan universities became autonomous in 2013 and were responsible for developing their strategies for innovation and performance, the training programme should be tailored to the needs of the management staff there. Information about the programme should also be provided to other universities in the region.

The main goals of the project: Strengthening the organizational structures, strategic planning, and management at the universities in the Republic of Moldova, supporting their leadership skills and their management. Promoting reforms in higher education.

Individual goals:

  • The development and implementation of a training programme in the area of science management for executives, designed for staff with managerial responsibility at higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova;
  • the creation of a suitable infrastructure for the sustainable implementation of the training programme in leadership and management at Moldovan higher education institutions;
  • disseminating information about the new programme and its impact on higher education in Moldova;
